Supro Lap Steel Serial Numbers

The light blue Supros were only made for a short period in the mid-’60s. Look for small metal plate nailed to the back of the cabinet - that is where the serial number is found. Serial number plate: These tuners are original Kluson open strip tuners. Fine corrosion dust on the tuners, rather than heavier rust, shows that someone in this guitar’s distant past did proper maintenance of wiping the tuners down and then dry with a Q-tip or artist brush or such.
The serial numbers inside are N-1 and L6045 6891. I have a Supro Student Delux lap steel guitar. It is of wood and has a good finish. The string tighteners need. It’s a Comet, which was in the middle of the Supro steel line. The white knob most likely dates it to 1954 or earlier; the other knob is a replacement.
